About Dr. B. Jayaraman – Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Dr. B. Jayaraman is a highly accomplished and respected Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over four decades of professional experience in India and abroad. A gold medalist and the first and best outgoing student of Coimbatore Medical College, Dr. Jayaraman has earned national and international recognition for his pioneering contributions to heart and thoracic surgery.

He holds an impressive list of qualifications including MBBS, MS (General Surgery), MCh (Cardiothoracic Surgery), MNAMS (General Surgery & CTS), FCCP (USA), MAMS (Vienna), FICS, and an MBA in Hospital Management. He received his advanced surgical training from premier institutions like Madras Medical College and the National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Jayaraman has held key academic and clinical positions. He served as Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and Tirunelveli Medical College. He was instrumental in establishing the heart surgery department at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital from the ground up, a rare and commendable feat accomplished with minimal resources.

Dr. Jayaraman has also worked internationally, including a distinguished stint as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Sakaka Central Hospital, Saudi Arabia, where his exceptional surgical skills earned him three appreciation awards and merit certificates from His Highness, the Prince of Saudi Arabia. He was also invited to stay permanently in the Middle East but chose to return to India out of dedication to his mission.

He later served at East Texas Memorial Hospital, USA, and since 2010, has been working as a Senior Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Coimbatore, offering his expertise to various corporate hospitals as a visiting consultant.

Dr. Jayaraman’s special interests include chest trauma, lung resections (especially in TB), mediastinal masses, oesophageal surgeries, and both closed and open-heart surgeries. His academic excellence is further highlighted by his extensive research work and over 50 scientific paper presentations at national and international cardiothoracic conferences. He has also delivered notable orations and received best paper awards, making significant contributions to medical literature.
